Bengaluru: 1 more held in BJP leader's murder
Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Rural police, probing the murder of BJP Bommasandra Town Municipal Council member and Dalit leader, Srinivas Prasad alias Kithaganahalli Vasu, have reportedly arrested one more person. The accused has been identified as Satish. The police, however, are yet to nab the main accused in the case, Manjunath, and efforts are on to nab him.
Sources said that a police team, who had credible information on whereabouts of Satish, nabbed him at Bovikatti village in Holalkere taluk of Chitradurge district on Friday.
Bengaluru Rural SP Amit Singh refused to divulge more information of the ongoing probe and said that a press conference will be convened soon, hinting that all accused would be nabbed in a day or two.
The police had earlier arrested five people - Sarojamma (45), Madhu alias Spike (23), Narayanswamy (35), Murali G. alias Appu (20) and C. Manjunath alias Karpuru (29) - in connection with the murder.
Sarojamma is a Congress leader and president of Bommasandra municipality and the main accused, Manjunath, is her son. Investigations had revealed that Prasad was done to death because of political rivalry, as he reportedly aspiring to become the TMC president and had challenged the change of reservation for the post from SC (General) to SC (Woman).The state government had recently modified the pattern of reservation for the posts of municipal council president and vice-president and Prasad had challenged the modification before the High Court.
