K E Krishna Murthy's son in soup over murder allegation

K.E. Krishna Murthy has been accused of misusing power.

KURNOOL: The political heat is mounting against Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishna Murthy to force him to resign owing moral responsibility for not surrendering his son K.E. Shyam Babu, an accused in the sensational murder of Cherukulapadu Narayana Reddy belonging to Pathikonda constituency. Following the issue of Non Bailabale Warrant (NBW) against Mr Babu, YSRC leader and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman Buggana Rajender Reddy said that until Mr Murthy resigns from the cabinet, no justice could be expected to the victimised family.

He said, “K.E. Krishna Murthy is clinging on to the seat like he is attached with glue. Blatant violation of constitutional provisions, utter disregard to public property and no moral conscience has rendered him to be unfit to continue as the Deputy Chief Minister.” The position of Deputy Chief Minister is the third most senior position after Governor and Chief Minister, in the governance of a constitutionally established state. If such a position is made mockery of in a democracy, what can one expect from habitual offenders, Reddy added. He further said that the prime accused K.E. Shyam Babu is also TD constituency in-charge in Pathikonda. He was already under probe from the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in a sand smuggling issue.

Kangti Sridevi, the wife of slain leader Cherukulapadu Narayana Reddy demanded that K.E. Shaym Babu, the accused, be arrested immediately. She alleged that Mr Babu is dodging arrest using his political influence and clout of his father who is holding the third most powerful position in the Andhra Pradesh state government. Dhone DSP Baba Fakruddin, when contacted, said that he was not in receipt of the Non-Bailable Warrant issued by the Judicial First Class Magaistrate of Dhone. Based on the directions in the warrant, further action would be initiated. Until a warrant is received, no arrests can be initiated, he said.
The wife of the deceased along with her lawyers however, showed us a copy of the warrant. But we can only take into congnisance the warrant received from the Court, he added. In any case, the question of arresting Mr Babu arises only in the event of him being absent before the court proceedings on March1.

Until such time, arresting Shyam Babu is only speculative, he said. With regard to sub-inspector of Veldurthi, who was also issued NBW, the SP said that the S-I has not absconded. He is very much in the station. He could explore all the possible avenues available to him as provided by the law, the SP said.
