Hyderabad: A 39-year-old movie director who lured an engineering graduate offering her a role in his movie and exploited her sexually was arrested by police on Friday. M. Karthikeya was remanded to custody. Police said M. Karthikeya, 39, a resident of Mathura Nagar in Banjara Hills, is a Tollywood film director. The victim, 24, who hails from Vizag, came to Hyderabad looking for a career in the film industry and was staying at Boduppal.
In 2016, she met Karthikeya on Facebook and gradually they became friends. “He promised her a role in his movie and sexually assaulted her. He also clicked her pictures with him in intimate positions and started exploiting her sexually,” Medipally inspector K. Jagannath Reddy said. He also promised to marry her and whenever she asked him about marriage he threatened to post her pictures on social media.
He also assaulted her physically on several ocassions, police said. Based on a complaint from her a case of rape, outraging the modesty of a woman and criminal intimidation were registered. Karthikeya was arrested and remanded.
