Around 700 grams of gold was stolen from one of the three shelves in the strong room.
Hyderabad: The Ghatkesar police booked a case on Wednesday against the management of Andhra Bank for cheating and criminal breach of trust, after the gold mortgaged by a customer was stolen.
Complainant I. Narasimha Reddy mortgaged 250 grams of gold with the bank. He said in his complaint that the gold was stolen as the bank failed to take security measures. “The bank’s strong room was not secure to keep the gold,” he said. Inspector B. Prakash said the theft took place between February 13 and 14 when the bank was closed. Around 700 grams of gold was stolen from one of the three shelves in the strong room.
