Bengaluru: HR Manager accused of sexual harassment
Bengaluru: A 30-year-old HR manager with a private company in Peenya has been accused of sexually harassing his subordinate. The victim alleged the company director, a woman, was also complicit and was threatening her.
The accused HRa Manager has been identified as Sharath K.J., while Guna K. Tantri, 45, is the director.
The victim, a 26-year-old woman, a HR executive, has filed a complaint with the Peenya police stating that Sharath has been harassing her regularly seeking sexual favours.
She stated that she had joined the company in April 2017 and since then he has been sexually harassing her.
“Eight months ago, he had invited me to his house under the pretext of hosting a party, where he sexually harassed me and forced me to get into a physical relationship with him. I reported it to Guna, thinking that being a woman she will understand the problem. But instead she supported him and threatened me for raising the complaint.”
The police said the two accused have gone incommunicado and have switched off their mobile phones.
A senior officer said that few months back, the victim was terminated and they have told the company to provide them the documents and explanation for the termination.
The Peenya police have registered a case and booked the accused under IPC sections 354 (Sexual Harassment) 506 (criminal intimidation) 34 (common intention) and 114 (abettor present when offence is committed).
