Hyderabad: NIA arrests ISIS terror suspect

On December 23, 2016 NIA charge sheeted eight other accused of the module including key player Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani.

Hyderabad: The NIA arrested an ISIS terror suspect on Tuesday who allegedly collected precursors of explosives and conspired to carry out pipe bomb blasts in the city. The arrested has been identified as Mohammed Irfan alias Abu Jaffer alias Iffu son of Mohammed Yousuf a resident of Zaheera nagar, Mir Alam Mandi.

On December 23, 2016 NIA charge sheeted eight other accused of the module including key player Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani. NIA said, “Mohammed Irfan was arrested for his role in the ISIS module, exposed in searches in Hyderabad on Jun 29, 2016. The investigation has revealed that Mohd Irfan along with the other accused took part in the searching of places for physical training. He had specifically searched for a safe house on the outskirts of Hyderabad along with Muzaffer Hussain Rizwan.”

The NIA found that Irfan collected the explosive precursors along with Mohammed Ilyas Yazdani from the outskirts of Pochampally village. “He also went to Anantapur to collect explosives. Investigation revealed that Mohd. Irfan also took an oath of allegiance to Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, the caliph of the ISIS. He was given the name, Abu Jafar by Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani.”
