MP: Teenager stabbed to death in petty dispute over change of Rs 5

Jitendra Vaidehi paid Rs 50 to the eatery owner and said that he does not have Rs 5 change which led to a wordy duel between them.

Jabalpur: A 16-year-old boy was killed and his brother and father sustained serious injuries when a man allegedly stabbed them following a dispute over change of Rs 5 at Tilwaraghat near Jabalpur, police said on Wednesday.

Trouble began when a roadside eatery owner, Gaurishanker Kesarwani (44), asked Jitendra Vaidehi (50) to pay him Rs 55 for the snacks served to him and his family at a 'mela' on Narmada river banks during Makar Sakranti festival on Tuesday at Tilawarghat, about 12 kms from here under Garha police station limits, Gorakhpur City Superintendent of Police Anjulata Patle told PTI today.

Jitendra paid him Rs 50 saying that he does not have Rs 5 change. However, Gaurishanker insisted on him to pay the balance and a wordy duel broke out between them, she added.

Jitendra then pulled out a knife and stabbed Gaurishanker in his chest. When the victim's sons Nitin (24) and Himanshu (16) came to their father's rescue, the accused stabbed them also.

The three injured persons were rushed to a hospital where Himanshu died.

"Jitendra fled from the spot. We arrested him this afternoon. Further investigations are on," Patle added.
