Hyderabad: Gangster Nayeem aide Srihari detained
Hyderabad: Rachakonda police detained slain gangster Nayeem's aide Polimety Srihari under the Preventive Detention Act. Police commissioner Mahesh Bhagawat issued the orders on Tuesday.
Srihari was an active member of Nayeem’s gang and operated in Pahadishareef, Adibatla, Vanasthalipuram and Saroornagar under the Rachakonda commissionerate. Police said that Srihari was involved in eight cases including murder, criminal conspiracy, cheating, kidnapping, extortion and land grabbing along with Nayeem and his associates.
After Nayeem was killed in a police encounter, Srihari surrendered in court in August 2016.
After the police took him into custody he confessed to committing five other crimes. Police found that in 2003, Srihari played an important role in the kidnap and murder of businessman U. Prabhaker in a forest area in Srisailam with the help of Nayeem and his associates. During interrogation, he confessed his involvement in this offence also. Detention orders were served on him in Cherlapally central prison where he is a remand prisoner.
