Dog bites 10-year-old, case registered against pet owner

Hyderabad: Borabanda police registered a case against a pet owner after his dog bit a 10-year-old boy on Saturday night. The owner, T. Satish Kumar, who runs a fancy items store, has been charged with negligent conduct with respect to animals (IPC Section 295), on a complaint from the family of the victim, Allamdaar.

Police said the victim, a Class IV student, had gone to a neighbouring lane while playing where the dog bit him on his left hand and in the lower abdomen. Passersby chased the pet away. He was rushed to Osmania hospital, where he is being treated.

Chemical can explodes, ragpicker injured

Hyderabad: A ragpicker, Mohammed Hamid, suffered critical burns when a can containing chemicals exploded in Crystal Town Colony at about 8.30 am on Sunday, Bandlaguda police said. Fire breaks out in furniture showroom

Hyderabad: A fire broke out at a furniture showroom in Mecca Colony at about 11.45 pm on Saturday, Kalapather police said on Sunday. After locals informed the police, the fire services responded by midnight. Two fire tenders extinguished the fire by 12.30 am. “We suspect that a short circuit triggered the fire,” a fire officer said. The loss was estimated at '12 lakh.

Truck driver robbed of Rs 1.35 lakh

Hyderabad: Unidentified persons threatened a truck driver with a knife and robbed him of Rs 1.35 lakh at about 2.40 am on Sunday near Gulluru crossroads, Shamshabad police said. The victim, K. Ramesh, was heading towards Wanaparthy. The suspects were on a two-wheeler and intercepted the lorry. After robbing the driver, duo fled towards the Peddagolkonda toll gate.
