Belagavi: With Assembly elections getting closer, many BJP leaders in the state have been issuing communal statements, attracting public ire. In a fresh incident, former minister and BJP leader Umesh Katti has landed in fresh trouble for reportedly using offensive language against SCs and STs. Several Dalit organisations have launched protests across Belagavi district even as an FIR was filed against Katti at the Hukkeri police station on Saturday. Alleging that Katti used unparliamentary words against the SC/ST community, Dalit organisations had announced bandh at Sankeshwar and Sadalaga in the Chikkodi constituency on Saturday, demanding a stern action against him.
