Currency ban: Bengaluru Businessman taken for a ride
Bengaluru: In another case of robbery related to demonetisation, a 28-year-old businessman was robbed of Rs 18 lakh along with his car by a gang of six to seven men in Nandini Layout on Thursday night. The victim identified as Pradeep was dealing with stationery merchandise and had his business in Mahadevapura, the police said.
According to the police, Pradeep was initially approached by two people who told him that he could exchange his valid denominations with demonetized currencies for a commission of 15 per cent. Pradeep agreed and approached his relatives and friends and to pool Rs 18 lakh and contacted the duo. Pradeep took the money in his car and drove to Nandini Layout, where he was asked to come.
At Nandini Layout, two men saw the cash and told Pradeep to shift somewhere else for the exchange. Pradeep drove to the new location when four to five people asked him to alight and drove away his car.
Pradeep then rushed to Nandini Layout police station and registered a complaint. The police claimed that they have some clues about the accused and they will be soon nabbed.

When he reached Nandini Layout, two men came and saw the cash and told Pradeep that they should go to another place nearby to exchange the cash. While they gave directions, Pradeep drove the car and stopped at a spot, as directed by the duo. Around four to five people came and barged into the car and asked Pradeep to alight. The accused drove away his car along with the money.
Pradeep then rushed to Nandini Layout police station and registered a complaint. Police claim to have clues about the accused and say they will be soon nabbed.
