Telangana: Woman dies, kin blame doctors
Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Gandhi Hospital on Thursday morning as 26-year-old woman, B. Jyothi, died of trauma injuries in the stomach. She was undergoing treatment in the hospital since four days. Jyothi was admitted with heavy bleeding after an alleged fight with neighbours. She was brought to the hospital along with her husband, Mahesh, from Medchal. The husband had a broken hand. Shivarthi Mahender, her brother from Siddipet, said, “On the first day, she was taken to the emergency section and treated for one hour. After that they put her in the general ward. I had a fight with the doctors as her condition was deteriorating.” On Thursday morning, Jyothi was again taken to the emergency section where the doctors treated her for an hour and declared her dead.
An angry Shivarthi and the family members confronted the doctors, creating commotion, and the police was called in to disperse the angry relatives. They staged a dharna outside the hospital before taking the body for the last rites. The police has not registered a case. A senior doctor at Gandhi Hospital, on condition of anonymity, said, “The injury was very deep in the abdomen region. Medications were given but the response was poor. This led to further infections, causing death.”
