Bengaluru: A 24-year-old man climbed a huge tree in Koramangala in an attempt to commit suicide, due to domestic disputes with his parents, and caused traffic jam for over 45 minutes on Wednesday evening.

The man, identified as Somashekar Ningappa, is a resident of Raghunathanahalli in Raichur district. The youth belongs to a family of agriculturists, who came to Bengaluru four days ago. According to the police, he had fought with his family members over some petty issue and left home last week. “Somashekhar climbed on a tree near Raheja Arcade after he reportedly remembered his mother's scoldings,” a senior police officer said. Assistant sub-inspector Sanjeevappa, attached to the Koramangala police station, alerted the fire and emergency department and the crew immediately rushed to the spot. The rescue team stood beneath the tree, with a net drawn, almost for an hour. They used loud speakers to convey to him that all his demands would be met and succeeded in helping him come down, the police said. Later Somashekar was taken to Koramangala police station and let off.
