Hyderabad: Student held for online abuse
Hyderabad: A woman from the city who faced harassment from a Facebook friend approached Rachakonda cyber crime police and lodged a complaint. Police arrested a second-year intermediate student from Santoshnagar and remanded him to judicial custody. Mohammed Azhar Khan,18, a resident of Santoshnagar, studies intermediate second year at Goutham Junior College in the IS Sadan area.
He had sent friend requests on Facebook to the woman and her friend, both city residents. After a few conversations, they exchanged mobile numbers.
About two months ago, when Azhar was continuously making sarcastic comments on the Facebook profile of the woman’s friend, he was asked to refrain from doing so.
After a few days, she received her morphed pictures and abusive messages from Azhar on WhatsApp and Facebook continuously. When she threatened to lodge a police complaint against him, Azhar threatened her with dire consequences.
She approached Rachakonda cyber crime police and complained.
A case was registered by police under sections 354(D), 504 and 506 of IPC and 66 (D), 67 and 67(A) of the IT Act.
Based on technical evidence, Azhar was arrested from his home.
On questioning, he confessed saying that he wanted to take revenge.
