Chennai: The body of a two-year-old boy, who went missing on Monday morning from outside his home in Arumbakkam, was found floating in the Cooum River behind his house on Tuesday morning. Police are investigating to determinewhether the boy drowned accidentally or being kidnapped and murdered. Police said the victim M.Jeeva (2) was last seen on the Monday morning when he was playing outside his house on Doctor R.K Nagar in Arumbakkam.

According to the police, Jeeva’s father Murali, who works as a welder lodged a complaint with Arumbakkam police and pasted posters around the locality. The police had then launched a search for the boy. Around 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning, residents spotted the body of a child floating on the water. The police were informed and a team fished the body out. The boy’s body was sent to the Kilpauk government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
