Hyderabad: A 29-year-old city Karate instructor has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a two-and-half-year old child at a playschool in Nagarjunanagar.
Police personnel from Kushaiguda station said Sai Kumar took the girl from the classroom on the pretext of taking her to the toilet and sexually assaulted her. The incident, which happened a week ago, came to light after the child complained of pain.
According to police, Sai Kiran had been employed as a martial arts instructor by Iris Floret playschool for a year. He took classes twice a week at the school. A week ago, he and another teacher were speaking to a class when the victim said she needed to use the toilet. Sai Kiran offered to take her to the restroom and police believe it's where he sexually assaulted her.
On Thursday, when the girl complained of pain, her parents took her to a hospital where doctors confirmed injuries. When the parents asked the child, she revealed Sai Kiran’s name. Based on a complaint lodged by the child's parents, an assault case under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual offences Act was registered and Sai Kiran has been placed under arrest. The police is investigating. The playschool has around 50 branches across the city.
