Two-year-old abducted, recovered in five hours
Karimnagar: A two-year-old girl was kidnapped from the front yard of her house in an autorickshaw on Monday night and was recovered within five hours, the police said.
Mohammad Kutbuddin, the girl’s father, complained to the police that the child was abducted by unidentified persons from near their residence in Ashok Nagar of Karimnagar district around 9.30 pm. Further, he said that neighbours had spotted her being taken away in an autorickshaw.
Following the complaint, the One Town police formed four special teams under the supervision of ACP Tula Srinivas and started a search operation.
They enquired with auto drivers at Naka Chowrasta, Mancherial Chowrasta, Subash Nagar, Karimnagar Bus Stand and Rajiv Chowk auto stands, following which they located the autorickshaw near a hospital. But, it did not bear a registration number.
The police perused CCTV footage from cameras located between the girl’s residence and the hospital, and identified the driver as a resident of Subash Nagar by examining stickers pasted on the vehicle.
The accused were identified as Shanigarapu Santosh, 32, of Subash Nagar and Kolamaddi Ramulu, 42, of Khazipur village. They were arrested from Subash Nagar and the child was rescued from Ramulu’s Khazipur residence.
Police commissioner V. Satyanarayana appreciated the efforts of the investigating officials.
