Kozhikode: Mukkam police arrested a youth from Kollam for the sexual abuse of a 14 year old inmate of Quwwat-Ul-Islam Madrassa at Karassery, Mukkam, on Tuesday. He was remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday. The youth Abdu Rahoof, 23, of Puthuveedu, Paravoor, Kollam was tracked by police with the help of cyber cell.
Police had registered a case against the youth on August 7 based on the complaints of the parents of the boy.
The youth reached the institution expressing his urge to study religion. The authorities refused to accept his plea as giving admission to a youth without the consent of parents was against the law of the institution. However the authorities allowed the youth to stay at the hostel for one day who slept with the boys and left by noon on Friday.
Though the boy informed the authorities about the sexual torture, they hushed up the incident, it was alleged. However the boy went home and revealed to parent about the incident. Later the boy was admitted at a hospital with pain at abdomen with urinary disorder. The youth was remanded to judicial custody by the POCSO court, Kozhikode.
