Hunt still on for dogs' killer

Cops say three dogs were killed using an air gun.

Hyderabad: Police is still breaking their heads over the shooting to death of three stray dogs in Tappachabutra area, and has concluded by now that they were killed by shots fired from an air gun. They have also established that the dogs were continuously disturbing the peace of those living in the farmhouse. However, cops are yet to identify as to who did the shooting. The police team probing the case found out that there were two servants in the farmhouse spread over eight acres of land. The owner of the farmhouse, realtor Akbar Nizamuddin, is currently out of the city.

Police questioned the servants but they pleaded ignorance about the shooting as also about the firearm used in the liquidation of the troublesome canines. “The shooting took place in the farmhouse, we know, but who did it is to be found out. Once the owner of the farmhouse returns, we might get more information,” said Tappachabutra Inspector B Ravinder.

An autopsy was conducted on the bodies of the three dogs and the carcasses were handed over to the GHMC for conducting the last rites. It was on Monday evening, around 7 pm, that the residents of the Allu Sitaramaraju colony in Tappachabutra heard gunshots from the farmhouse and rushed out to see what happened and noticed the three stray dogs running out of the farm house gate with bleeding injuries, collapsing in the field outside and dying. A case has been registered under section IPC 429 on a charge of causing mischief by killing or maiming a cattle/animal.
