Hyderabad: Man kills friend for peeping in on mom

Accused calls two others and with their help stabs his friend.

Hyderabad: A 20-year-old boy, who was allegedly caught by his friend while peeping into the bathroom while the latter’s mother was bathing, was stabbed to death at Chandanagar on Sunday night. The accused, R. Sampath, surrendered before the police confessing to having killed his friend.

Although the alleged peeping incident happened a month ago, Sampath could not get over the ugly act indulged in by his friend N. Ajay Devraj (20), and murdered him, after throwing a liquor party.

Ajay, a photographer, was living at Serilingampally in Chandanagar along with his parents and elder brother. He discontinued studies after passing intermediate and started working. He also used to work as a car driver on a part-time basis.

Ajay and Samapth, a resident of Lingampally, were friends. At around 12.30 pm on Sunday, Ajay went to meet his friend Muthu at Chandanagar, from where Sampath picked him at 3 pm. They both went for a ride and then purchased liquor. After drinking liquor at the roadside at HUDA trade centre in Taranagar, Sampath called two of his friends and with their help, he stabbed Ajay multiple times.

Meanwhile, Ajay’s brother, Prudhvi, who got to know about the incident, rushed Ajay to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. “Sampath was carrying a kitchen knife. He stabbed Ajay multiple times on the abdomen and sliced his throat. He surrendered at the police station confessing to having killed Ajay,” said Chandanagar inspector N Tirupati Rao, adding that another accused was caught on Monday morning, while the hunt was on to apprehend one more accused.

Miyapur assistant commissioner of police S. Ravi Kumar said “Ajay used to regularly visit Samapth’s house. Once, Sampath caught Ajay peeping through the bathroom window while his mother was bathing. This was happening for quite some time and about a month ago, Sampath caught Ajay in the act, after which he bore the grudge on Ajay and killed him.”

However, Ajay’s family denied the reports and said that Sampath was hired by a family that threatened to kill Ajay for getting close to their daughter. “Ajay was having a close friendship with a girl. Her family had threatened to kill him, and we suspect that they hired Sampath,” alleged Ajay’s brother.
