Hyderabad: Man cheats, decamps with Rs 40 lakh

The case was booked by the KPHB police based on the complaint of a victim, Girukula Baswaraj (42) from Yavavelli village in Sangareddy district.

Hyderabad: Police on Monday registered a cheating case against the manager of Soft Integrate Multi Foods, for collecting Rs 40 lakh as security deposit from people for enrolling them in home-based business. The case was booked by the KPHB police based on the complaint of a victim, Girukula Baswaraj (42) from Yavavelli village in Sangareddy district.

According to the victim, he had contacted Soft Integrate after watching its advertisement on providing home-based job opportunities in a TV channel. When the victim contacted the company, he was asked to deposit Rs 1,000 as a security deposit for giving him Harad (Karakkaya), which the company would buy for Rs 1,300 after they were grinded to powder for Ayurvedic use. After the successful completion of two transactions with the company, the victim bought more volume of Harad for Rs 40,000.

The company was supposed to buy back the powder on July 16. But on Monday he got a call from an executive, who identified himself a human resource employee, and informed him about the missing manager. Mr Baswaraj realised the fraud on reaching the company’s office in KPHB. The KPHB police registered a case under sections 420, and 406 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 5 of Andhra Pradesh Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments Act, are searching for the absconding accused.
