Hyderabad: Baby falls out of auto, dies instantly
Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a family that was on it way to attend evening mass witnessed the death of their 17-month-old baby girl, who tumbled out of the auto rickshaw they were travelling in on Sunday evening in Lothkunta. Police booked a case of negligence against the father, who was driving the auto. Ramesh, the father of the baby, G. Thanuja, was driving the auto which he owns, the police said.
The family was travelling to a church in Alwal when the accident occurred. Ramesh was driving the auto and the mother was sitting at the entry side of the auto with her three children next to her and the baby was playing, the police said. Ramesh claimed that when the auto reached the Ganesh temple at Lothukunta, the child fell down from no entry side of the auto, which had a single grill. “After the baby fell, an RTC bus which was behind us went over the child and killed her” he said.
However, sub-inspector of Bolarum, K.Srinivasulu, said the baby was killed after hit a road divider. “When the child fell off the auto, she hit the road divider and sustained serious head injury, leading to her death. It was the negligence on the part of Ramesh and the mother,” the sub-inspector said.
