Chennai: In a shocking incident, an 11-year-old hearing impaired girl was allegedly gang raped by 18 men for the past seven months. The incident came to light when the girl, studying at a private school near Secretariat Colony, complained of acute stomach pain to her sister and then she was taken to hospital, where the doctor examined and confirmed that many people had sexually assaulted her.
According to police sources, the lift operator in the apartment complex at Secretariat Colony, identified as Ravi (66) had taken her to an isolated place and raped her. Later, he called a couple of others from outside and they had allegedly raped her when they were under the influence of drugs and alcohol and recorded the whole incident to threaten her not to tell anyone about it. When Ravi realised the girl was tight lipped, he also invited the plumber and electrician to rape the girl. She was allegedly taken to isolated places including basements, public washrooms, the terrace and gym to be raped, said the investigating officer.
The girl’s father runs an electronic shop and her mother is a home maker. Her elder sister is studying in a private college in another city.
