Hyderabad: Calvin Mascarenhas and two others arrested in the drugs case were grilled by the Special Investigation Team of the excise enforcement wing for two days and sent back to Cherlapally and Chanchalguda Central Prisons on Sunday.
Sources said that the SIT grilled Calvin on the code words were used during WhatsApp conversations with customers. “He used code words with cartoon characters like Mr Bean. We focused on decoding such words. We got some information and it may take one or two days more to come to a conclusion,” the source explained.
Excise enforcement director Akun Sabharwal said, “Except grilling on ongoing investigation, there is nothing new we can share with the media. We can’t share the clues on code words identified in Calvin’s mobile phone at this point of the investigation.”
The SIT will speed up the investigation from Monday based on the codes they have decoded after grilling Calvin. Based on information, the SIT may soon send notices to few more personalities from the film industry as well as others under Section 67 of the NDPS Act.
The SIT questioned Mohammad Abdul Wahed and his elder brother Mohammed Abdul Quddus in this case as to how they trapped school students into the drugs’ network. The entire interrogation was covered by video camera for evidences.
Calvin revealed during SIT interrogation that he used to target event managers to expand his network in the film industry. He had 2,143 phone contacts in his mobile phone.
