Vande Bharat passenger looted at Secunderabad Railway station

Hyderabad: Unidentified persons stole gold and diamond jewellery from the hand bag of a woman passenger at the Secunderabad railway station on Saturday. She was to travel in the Tirupati-bound Vande Bharat Express train when the incident occurred.

Railway police registered a case and started investigation and suspects the role of a previous offender.

Police said the victim, I.S. Sravanti, a staffer of the social welfare department of the government, had entered the station through Gate 4 and was proceeding to board the train.

As she was entering the lift on Platform no 1, the suspects struck from behind and made off with the jewellery. Before she could raise an alarm, the suspects had disappeared into the crowd of passengers.

It was found that a small box containing the jewellery weighing 16.7 tolas which she had kept in her hand bag was stolen. The value of jewellery was around Rs 40 lakh, said M.A. Majeed, sub-inspector, Government Railway Police, Secunderabad.
