TIRUVERUMBUR: The Tiruchy Collector S. Sivarasu issued transfer orders to Tashildar Tiruverumbur and put him on waiting list on Saturday, for allegedly demanding bribes from sand lorry owners to grant them illegal sand quarrying permit in Tiruchy.
Official sources told DC that Tiruverumbur Tahsildar Annadurai, sought a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a sand lorry owner, the conversation of which was recorded on the complainant’s mobile phone, and ultimately was posted on the social media network.
Social activists and environmentalists urged the government to take suitable action against Annadurai. Following this, Tiruchy collector Sivarasu issued transfer orders to Annadurai and posted Marugapuri Tahsildar Rafiq Ahmad as Tahsildar, Tiruverumbur, sources added.
