Kalaburagi: Gulbarga University on Friday suspended two professors of the English Department, while ordering a departmental inquiry against them. The suspended professors are V.B. Badiger, Head of the English Dept and Prof Ramesh Rathore.
The University held an emergency syndicate meeting and took the decision after cases were registered against both professors. While Professor Ramesh Rathore has been suspended following registering of a case of sexual harassment against him, Prof Badiger has been suspended in the wake of an atrocity case filed against him by Prof. Rathore.
In a complaint to the police, a PhD scholar working under Prof. Rathore has alleged that her guide harassed her. The scholar has also alleged that when she tried to file a FIR at the police station, initially the police did not register a case. However when the scholar decided to go to the media on Thursday, the case was registered on Thursday. The SP Shashikumar has directed a DYSP to conduct an inquiry.
In the counter complaint, while refuting the charges against him, Prof Rathore has alleged that the scholar has levelled the charges after she was instigated by Prof. Badiger.
