Hyderabad: Automobile theft gang arrested
Hyderabad: Cyberabad police arrested a four-member automobile theft gang using clues from CCTV cameras and seized stolen vehicles worth around '12 lakh from them.
The suspects are Shaik Tajuddin, 27, Mohammed Rafeeq, 23, Abdul Khaja Khan, 22 and Mohammed Arif, 25. One Syed Ghouse is absconding.
Shamshabad DCP P.V. Padmaja said that all members of the gang were expert drivers. The main accused, Tajuddin, who hails from the Basawakalyan district of Karnataka, is a notorious criminal and was earlier arrested by Mailardevpally police in a burglary case and remanded.
“But after coming out on bail he started committing crimes again. He formed a gang with other suspects and stole automobiles from Rajendranagar and its surroundings,” the DCP said.
She said the gang was involved in seven cases, three in Rajendranagar and four in Mailardevpally police station limits.
Based on clues from CCTV footages police got information that they were moving around in Chandrayanagutta and nabbed them.
Police said the gang had admitted all the thefts. Police arrested the four and recovered a tanker, a truck, lorry tyres and phones. The arrested men were remanded.
