Telangana: ACB raids Boilers Department director, Rs 12 crore seized

ACB also raided houses of his son and relatives across the city.

Hyderabad: For the first time after the formation of Telangana state, Anti-Corruption Bureau officials raided a state-level officer for possessing disproportionate assets.

Officials recovered assets worth more than Rs 12 crore from director of the Boilers Department Vijay Kumar. Based on credible information, ACB teams conducted simultaneous raids at houses of Vijay Kumar at Begumpet and Kavuri Hills, his office at Nallakunta, his son’s office, Divya Shakthi Softtech at Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar, and residences of relatives at Kothapet.

Officials found documents of two houses at Alkapuri and Nallakunta worth Rs 60 lakh, two flats and a penthouse at Kavuri Hills worth more than Rs 1.4 crore, three plots at Nallakunta, Alkapuri and Adibhatla worth Rs 26 lakh, and five acres of agricultural land near ORR in Adibatla, Pasumamula and Ibrahimpatnam.

Officials also found Rs 5.94 lakh in cash, Rs 6 lakh worth fixed deposits, household articles worth more than Rs 15 lakh, and two cars worth Rs 12 lakh.

Assets worth Rs 3 crore seized
The value of the seized assets is around Rs 3 crore, while the market values is estimated to be more than Rs 12 crore.

Vijay Kumar joined service as inspector in 1989 at Vijayawada and later worked at Rajamahendravaram and Hyderabad. Kumar, who was the additional director of the department, was promoted as director in May 2016.

Officials also raided Divyashakti Softtech, a water processing company, owned by the director’s wife and son. His son started the company in 2013, immediately after completing his engineering.
