Hyderabad: Troubled by the alleged harassment of her techie husband, a 36-year-old housewife committed suicide in Nizampet. Police said P. Anupama from Vijayawada hanged herself from the ceiling.
The woman was married to Brahmaji Gupta from Vizag in 2009 and the couple with their two kids, Siddartha, 12, and Sarvanika, 8, were residing in a rented flat in Nizampet village.
Brahmaji was working for a CA software firm while Anupama was a housewife. For the past few months, the man quarelled with his wife over petty issues and sometimes even assaulted her. On Monday morning, before leaving for office, he quarelled with his wife. In the afternoon, he called her on mobile but there was no response. He called the watchman to check their flat. The watchman found Anupama hanging from the ceiling and informed him.
Anupama’s parents rushed to Hyderabad from Vijayawada. Her father Nagabusanam said that Brahmaji harassed her on petty issues and even beat her for no reason. Based on his complaint a case for abetment to suicide and harassment has been registered against Brahmaji who was detained for questioning. Police said the children were at their maternal grandparents' house in Vijayawada for summer vacation.
