Hyderabad: Cricket coach booked for sexually abusing 5 boys

A 16-year-old boy lodged a complaint with Chandanagar police against him.

Hyderabad: A cricket coach was on Tuesday booked for allegedly sexually abusing five teenage boys who were taking coaching from him, police said.

A 16-year-old boy lodged a complaint with Chandanagar police against the cricket coach, Salam, that during rest time he used to take the five students (aged between 12 and 16) in the coach room and allegedly tried to have unnatural sex with them, Inspector N Tirupati Rao said.

Following the complaint, a case was registered under sections 377 (unnatural offences) and 511 of IPC and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Rao told PTI.

The coach is being questioned, he said. "The 16-year-old boy has accused Salam of sexually abusing him and four others, who were taking coaching from him. We are verifying," he said, adding that further probe was on.
