Bengaluru: In broad daylight, a woman techie groped
BENGALURU: In a shocking incident, a woman techie was allegedly groped by four drunk men in broad daylight on the busy Old Airport Road. The victim’s male friend, who was at the spot when the incident happened, alleged that the police failed to arrive at the spot, even though they called up the control room.
The victim’s friend, Arjun Nandkumar, shared their ordeal on Facebook with a hashtag #UselessBengaluruPolice. But he removed the link later. However, neither the victim nor her friends present at the spot have filed a complaint in any police station, even after over two days of the alleged incident, the police said.
Arjun stated in his post that he and his colleagues were on their way to office after lunch in Diamond District, Old Airport Road when one of four drunk men, who were standing in front of a bar, groped his female colleague. She responded with a slap. When Arjun intervened, they allegedly pulled and tore his T-shirt.
Arjun said that he called up the police control room seeking help, but the officers allegedly told him to hold on to the culprits till they arrive. “Well, I hope I had the superpowers to do that,” Arjun wrote.
Responding to the post, Ajay Hillori, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Division), said that no complaint has been filed about the incident. He advised Arjun to file a complaint at the Jeevan Bima Nagar police station and promised to take necessary action.
