Three-year-old boy, abducted from Bengaluru, rescued in Delhi
Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police have traced a three-year-old boy, who was kidnapped from the city on April 10, in New Delhi. The police had taken the help of Delhi police to rescue the child and he will be brought back to the city in a day or two.
The boy’s father, Ibad Rehmat, a carpenter, had filed a missing complaint at the Hennur police station on April 11 after his son, Ahmed, who had gone to play, did not return home. During the investigation, the police found that the boy was kidnapped by Naushad alias Shabad Ali, a painter, who was hired by Rehmat to work at a house of Ayub. The reason for the kidnapping was a scuffle that broke out between Naushad and Rehmat over money, the police said.
Rehmat had stated in his complaint that Ayub paid Naushad Rs 20,000 after the completion of work. Instead of handing over the entire amount, Naushad gave him only Rs 10,000, saying he had spend the rest. The duo fought over the issue. Later to teach Rehmat a lesson, Naushad abducted Ahmed and took him to Delhi. Rehmat got to know of his son’s whereabouts only when Naushad called him from Delhi and demanded a ransom of Rs 50,000 to release the boy.
The police said that after abducting the boy, Naushad boarded a train from Yeshwanthpur Railway Station and reach his hometown Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh. He called Rehmat two days later, saying the ransom amount has to be deposited into his bank account if he wanted his son back. The police then set a trap and asked Rehmat to accept Naushad’s demand.
Rehmat told Naushad that instead of bank transfer, he would hand over the cash. But in Delhi, when the police tried to catch Naushad, he managed to escape after pushing the boy towards the police. The police have launched a manhunt for Naushad.
