Hyderabad: Threat to Aradhana case complainant
Hyderabad: The petitioner in the Aradhana case has received a threatening phone call asking him to stop interfering in the Jain community’s affairs.
The child rights activist, who received the call from a man claiming to be from Ahmedabad, approached the Hyderabad police commissioner seeking protection. Rao alleged that the man claimed to have announced a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on Rao’s head. “On April 15 at around 5 pm, I received a call from a person using the phone number 9712500066. He asked me why I was interfering in the Aradhana case. He said that he had announced a Rs 5 lakh bounty on my head,” said Rao in his complaint.
“I request you to provide me security,” he added.
Following the death of Jain girl Aradhana due to two months of fasting Rao had filed a case against her parents. But, later the police dropped the case. Rao has now approached a court demanding reopening of the case.
