VIJAYAWADA: A third year B.Tech electronics student of DVR & Dr HS MIC college of technology engineering college — Mylavaram committed suicide by jumping into Krishna River at Prakasam Barrage here on Friday. Though he committed suicide on Wednesday, his body was found floating on Friday morning. Cops identified the deceased student as P. Anil Kumar (22), a resident of Krishna Lanka who reportedly went missing on Wednesday. When family members found his bike on Prakasam Barrage, they lodged a missing complaint with Krishna Lanka police.
At around 8 am, passersby noticed the body of Anil floating near Gate No. 25 of Prakasam Barrage and alerted Tadepalli police who fished out the body and sent it to GGH for post-mortem. Tadepalli police said that Anil was depressed over his mother scolding him for his mischief and committed suicide on Wednesday by jumping into the river. The police further said that the reasons behind his extreme step are yet to be ascertained. Ch. Pratap, sub-inspector, Tadepalli said, “According to family members, he was depressed and took the extreme step. We have started investigating the case.” Anil was survived by father Appa Rao, mother Kamakshi and younger brother Sunil.
