Hyderabad: Two students dupe Amazon, Flipkart
Hyderabad: Two students were arrested by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone team on Wednesday for cheating e-tailers Amazon and Flipkart.
When the goods were delivered, one of them would stay with the delivery boy while the other would go inside the house pretending to bring the debit card.
Once inside, he would open the pack, replace the gadget with stone or clay and return with it. When the debit card, which had no balance, would be declined during the payment process, the duo would return the packet apologising that they did not have money.
The accused, Yahiya Mohammad Ishaque (20), a Psychology student in IGNOU and Mohammad Shahroz Ansari (23) a BBA final year student at SJ Arts and Commerce College, are residents Dhankota, Golconda but natives of Maharashtra.
Police said that Mohammed earlier had worked in the packing section of Amazon and knew how to pack and unpack without raising suspicion.
The duo stole a Nexus 6P Gold mobile phone, a Microsoft mobile phone, a Samsung 6S edge mobile phone, a Nikon DSLR and a Lenovo laptop from Amazon and Flipkart in the last one year.
“When the delivery boy would hand over the goods, Yahya would go inside, carefully remove the seal of the parcel, take out the item and replace it with sand, clay or stone of equal weight.
"He would re-seal the same with the help of a sealing machine, which he had bought earlier, come back with a debit card without balance. When the card would be declined after swiping, they would return the pack and say sorry,” a police officer said.
