The Crime Prevention and Detection Team (CPDT) of Railway Protection Force (RPF) is taking up checks to end the nuisance of transgenders, who are forcibly collecting money from passengers in trains and at railway stations.

On Friday, a transgender was apprehended by the CPDT team in 12805 Janmabhoomi Express, who was involved in collecting money from the passengers in general coach and creating a nuisance. Observing all the legal formalities, the accused was produced before 2nd Metropolitan Magistrate, the accused was convicted of the offence and was sentenced to jail under Railways Act.

The railways will conduct such drives throughout the division and the accused will be punished as per Railways Act, said a railway official.
