Hyderabad: Urea scam accused M Sambasiva Rao arrested
Hyderabad: Prime accused in urea scam M Sambasiva Rao who cheated a Bengaluru-based businessman by selling him a property owned by him but was attached by the CBI in another case, was arrested by Hyderabad City Police on Thursday. He was traced with the help of his mobile number. Police said that Sambasiva Rao cheated the victim Prashanth Srisailam to the tune of Rs 1.89 crore.
Police said that Sambasiva Rao, an agriculture graduate from Guntur district, was arrested by CBI and his property of 2.4 acres in Nampally was seized in connection with a case in 1996. In 2013, he started a real estate firm Sai Sri Projects in Begumpet and roped in Prashanth Srisailam, MD of Optimise infraSolution Private Limited.
“He made an agreement with him to develop the seized land in Nampally to construct a mall with a multiplex at 70:30 sharing deal. He took Rs 1.89 crore from the victim.” DCP CCS Avinash Mohanty said. Based on a complaint police registered a case and traced him in Guntur through his mobile tower location.
He was arrested and sent to remand.
