Bengaluru: Chain-snatcher, 2 cops fall through roof
BENGALURU: A day after City Police Commissioner Suneel Kumar announced intensified patrolling across the city to prevent chain-snatching, a chain-snatcher was caught in HSR Layout early on Tuesday.
The accused, Somashekar alias Soma, is from Anekal. Around 5.30 am, the police control room were alerted by an incident at Mangammanapalya, HSR Layout. A team rushed to the spot and found a suspicious man in a Maruti Van.
When he saw the cops, he tried to drive away. But police chased him and drove him to a dead end. He panicked, abandoned the vehicle and climbed a roof to escape from the police. Two constables climbed the rooftop behind him, but as the roof was made of sheets, it collapsed unable to bear the weight of all the three. The police caught the chain-snatcher and rushed all the three to a hospital. Constable Mahesh Nayak has a fractured his left hand, while the other constable, Basavaraj, has hurt his back.
