5 houses burgled on Hyderabad outskirts
Hyderabad: Burglars broke into five houses on the city's outskirts and fled with gold jewellery and silver articles.
The thefts happened in four locked flats in an apartment complex in Medchal and at a flat in Vanasthalipuram when the owners were away during Sankaranti.
Police said O. Balraj Goud, an employee of Shantha Bio Tech from Shashi Samyog Apartments in Uma Nagar and his wife and two daughters, went to their relatives’ house in Ibrahimpatnam two days ago for Sankaranti.
On Sunday night, his neighbours informed him that the main door of his flat was open.
Prabhakar alerted the police and they rushed to the spot. "This flat became a target as it was locked for two days. They entered the flat by breaking the lock of the main door and decamped with 14 tolas of gold and Rs 50,000," Medchal inspector S. Rajashekar Reddy said.
He said the burglars broke into three neighbouring flats too. They looted 30 tolas of gold and 3.5 grams of gold jewellery from realtor M. Venkatrami Reddy's flat and silver articles weighing 40 tolas from the house of B. Prabhudas Goud. But no property was lost from the flat of P. Kiran Kumar. Clues teams visited the spot and collected clues.
In another incident in Vanasthalipuram on Sunday night, burglars broke into a house and looted a tola of gold and 80 grams of silver articles.
The incident happened in the house of K. Linga Reddy, a private sector employee, in Yashoda Nagar under Vanasthalipuram police station limits. He was away from home due to Sankaranti.
