Bengaluru: Auto driver dies in accident, four injured
Bengaluru: A 37-year-old auto driver died on the spot and four others in the vehicle were injured after a speeding goods van rammed into their auto in Peenya traffic police station limits on Friday night.
The deceased, Pundarikaksha, was a resident of Peenya 2nd Stage. The injured are Sabanna, 40, his wife, Huliyamma, 28, his younger brother, Ambrish, 32 and neighbour Sharanappa, 33.
All hailed from Raichur and were working as daily wagers in Peenya. The incident occured around 11.30 pm on 8th Main junction in Peenya.
As Sabanna had epileptic fits his family decided to take him to a hospital. His wife, younger brother and neighbour hailed an auto, driven by Pundarikaksha, to go to hospital.
The speeding goods vehicle first rammed the auto in the front and later hit a sign pole. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.
Pundarikaksha died on the spot, while the other four were immediately shifted to a hospital.
The Peenya traffic police rushed to the spot and seized the vehicle. The four have sustained injuries and are being treated at Sapthagiri hospital. They are out of danger.
