GHMC staff, 2 scribes held
Hyderabad: A GHMC town planning section officer and two scribes working for regional newspapers were arrested by the ACB on Friday. They reportedly accepted a Rs 2 lakh bribe from environmental engineer V.L. Keshav Reddy not to demolish a temporary structure.
GHMC town planning section officer (Khaira-tabad) Siddantham Madhan Raj used journalists Akula Kiran Goud and Sopally Srini-vas to demand the bribe. The scribes were handing over the bribe to Raj when they were caught, the ACB said.
The temporary structure at the house of the Mr Reddy on Road No 5, Jubilee Hills, is pending for approval under the BRS.
The bribe money was recovered and the trio was arrested and produced before Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Hyderabad, and further investigation is on, said the ACB.
