Chennai: Even as people are coming to terms with  Tuesday’s gruesome murder of an engineer by her friend in Adambakkam for not reciprocating his feelings, city police arrested a 23-year-old man for threatening to immolate a MBBS student.

The arrested man, Midhun Srinivasan is the son of popular television actor, Bhuvaneshwari. Thirumangalam police arrested him on charges of harassment after the woman, a third year MBBS student preferred a police complaint.

Since the MBBS student didn’t respond to his messages on social media, he went to her house about two months ago and threatened to set her on fire, according to a police officer.

He even broke CCTV cameras at her residence and harassed her by turning up at her college. The girl lodged a complaint with the Anna Nagar police recently fed up with his activities.

He has been booked under sections - 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 448 - (punishment for house-trespass), 427 - (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 506 (criminal intimidation) and section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act (penalty for harassment of women).
