Tollywood film Race Gurram' producer acquitted

A criminal case was booked against producer Nallamala Bujji for screening the film without cuts.

Hyderabad: A court has acquitted film Race Gurram’s producer in a case of violating film censor laws by screening the film with censored cuts showing the cleavage and navel of an actress, and dialogues containing abusive language.

A criminal case was booked against producer Nallamala Bujji for screening the film without cuts. The violation was allegedly found by Central Board of Film Certification regional panel advisory members who filed a complaint. Nampally inspector K. Madhumohan Reddy said they are awaiting a copy of the judgement.

Advocate Challa Seshu Reddy who defended the accused said, “The complaint was filed on April 25, 2014 alleging that there was a violation of Cinematograph rules. The film was granted UA certificate with 12 cuts. We argued that it is a false case and that the producer had never screened the cuts. The court said the prosecution failed to prove guilt.

The complainant said that a close-up of the cleavage in a song and in a scene were not blurred. He alleged that brand labels on liquor bottles were not blurred and abusive dialogues have not been replaced.
