Kerala: Man held with Rs 61 lakh unaccounted money
Kozhikode: The Nadakkavu police seized unaccounted money totalling Rs 61, 98,100 from a man at the KSRTC bus station here and arrested him on Tuesday. The accused, Rasheed, 45, son of Mohammed, Kandathi Parambil, Palluruthi, Ernakulam, was travelling to Kozhikode with the money from Ernakulam and was held by Nadakkavu SI G. According to the police, Rasheed is one of the links in a chain that transfers unaccounted money to different parts of the state from a secret location in Ernakulam. He was later handed over to the enforcement officials. There were reports earlier that huge amounts of unaccounted money were being transferred through carriers via railway and bus stations. Raids have been conducted in petty shops, stalls and other establishments in the area where travellers often visit. The raids will continue in the coming days as the currency shortage in the wake of demonetisation has affected the public.
