Hyderabad: Two burglars held, gold seized
Hyderabad: Rachakonda police arrested two burglars and recovered 1.7 kg stolen gold and other valuables from them. One of the suspects was running an HR consultancy in Medipally to conceal his identity, and was targeting locked houses at night. Another suspect was once arrested under the PD Act, but he came out and started burglaries again.
In the Medipally case, Mohammed Avez Ahmed, 34, of Santosh-nagar, had been committing thefts since 2006. He was arrested in 2015 by the Hussaini Alam police. After release in the same year, he opened a consultancy named India Services Consul-tancy in the IS Sadan area.
“To avoid suspicion, as he was earlier arrested, Avez opened a job consultancy. He conducts recce in faraway areas and commits thefts. On Tuesday, he was nabbed by the Medipally police at Boduppal Kaman, when he was moving on a bike, carrying a toolkit and gold ornaments,” Rachakonda police commissioner M. Mahesh Bhagwat said.
Avez is now wanted in 43 theft cases. The police team recovered about one kg gold ornaments, 200 grams silver articles, four laptops, one camera, two wrist watches and Rs 2.5 lakh from him, said the commissioner.
In the second case, police detained one Mir Khazam Ali Khan, who was involved in 22 burglaries in the city and on the outskirts. Police invoked the PD Act against him to keep him in jail. “We had recovered 700 grams of gold from him and '91,000 cash. He was earlier booked as per the PD Act, but came out and started thefts again,” said a police official.
