Hyderabad: Two bankers convert notes, arrested
Hyderabad: Saroornagar police on Tuesday arrested a bank clerk on the charges of converting demonetised currency notes into new currency without submitting valid proofs.
The accused V Mallesh told police that he saved Rs 6 lakh money for the marriage of his daughter in Rs 1,000 notes and he converted the same into Rs 2,000. Police is verifying his claim.
According to Saroornagar Inspector of police Mr S. Lingaiah the case was booked on November 13 and the accused Mr Vangala Mallesh 56 son of Lakshamaih a cle-rk in Syndicate Bank at Chaitanyapuri in LB Nagar.
The inspector of police said, “Mallesh has been working in this branch from 2013. He took 300 notes of Rs 2000 from cashier Radhika by handing over her '6 lakh worth demonetised notes. The manager of the bank while checking the transactions in the evening found this on November 12 and complained to us after internal probe,”
The bank has suspended the two employees. A case has been registered under cheating and impersonation. The other accused Radhika is yet to be arrested.
