Rajasthan-based ₹20 crore app loans organiser arrested
ANANTAPUR: Kadapa police have on Saturday arrested a Rajasthan-based loan apps organiser who had more than ₹20 crore of turnover in mobile loan apps in various parts of the country.
YSR district SP K.K.N. Anbu Rajan said John Yadav alias Jony of Gandala village in Behror tehsil of Alwar district in Rajasthan had been operating 20 bank accounts for carrying out transactions in various states.
B. Sai Kumar Reddy, an employee of a cement industry in CK Dinne, had taken a loan of ₹95,000 through the loan app. But he got into his account only ₹65,000 as loan. In all, Sai Kumar ended up paying ₹3.71 lakh to the agency. Still, he had been threatened and forced to pay another ₹99,000 due. He then approached Kadapa SP Anbu Rajan and presented his case.
Post inquiries, police detained a local agent L. Ranganath of loan app organisers operating from Madhapur in Hyderabad. Ranganath was operating with the help of Sai Kumar in Telangana, Anbu in Tamil Nadu and John Yadav in Rajasthan. They had been threatening people to clear their debts or face dire consequences.
