KADAPA: Kadapa district police invoked Preventive Detention Act (PD Act) against notorious offender Chennupalli Prasanna Kumar (23) alias Prashanth Reddy.
A native of Proddatur town, he has cheated many women from the Telugu states by misusing social media platforms. The B.Tech drop-out initially was a burglar and a petty chain-snatcher. As such, Proddutur three town police had opened a suspect sheet on him. He frequented Kadapa, Vijayawada and Hyderabad and used social media to develop contacts with women.
After winning their confidence, he made them send their intimate photographs, which he used later to blackmail them. He also sexually exploited some victims, besides taking away their gold jewelry. Prasanna Kumar also cheated some with promises of jobs. He was involved in house-breaking, chain-snatching offences, cricket betting racket, sexual harassment and extortion.
Superintendent of Police Karur Karunapathi Nagendra Kumar Anburajan has warned that stern action would be taken against anyone involved in crimes against women.
