Students held for attacking classmate

The Amberpet police arrested three students of the Sri Chaitanya Junior College.

Hyderabad: The Amberpet police arrested three students of the Sri Chaitanya Junior College for allegedly beating up their classmate Vijay Vardhan. The student who suffered severe injuries is in coma. Police said Vijay and his three friends, all below 18, were studying Intermediate first year at the Sri Chaitanya Junior College in Amberpet.

On Friday, during lunch break, while Vijay was walking through the corridor, one of the boys hit him on the head from behind and when he challenged him, two others also did the same. Three students assaulted Vijay and he became unconscious. He was rushed to a hospital, where his condition is now critical. Doctors said that a surgery was conducted on the head to clear blood clots. Police detained the three boys and produced them before the Juvenile Justice Board. They were shifted to a correction home.

Vijay’s relatives staged a protest demanding strict action against the college management for being careless. Meanwhile, the police detained five student activists for protesting in front of the college demanding compensation for Vijay and money for his treatment.
